Investigation in Avoiding Ferroresonance in PT Circuits using Shunt Capacitor

چکیده :
Ferroresonance often inflicts severe damages on electrical equipment like potential transformers (PTs), surge arresters, and circuit breakers. Its main source comes out of the interaction between the power line stray capacitances and PT nonlinear inductor. In this paper, the effect of a shunt capacitor on the circuit's chaotic behavior is investigated. It is shown that the ratio of ∑C to Cseries equal to 4 is adequate for securing the PT against 4pu disturbances. The results are verified by providing various bifurcation diagrams. While the solution is highly effective, it is simple with just one component without any active circuit.
