Virtual Synchronous Generator Controller for Power Quality Enhancement in Microgrids

چکیده :
Extensive use of nonlinear loads causes some serious problems in islanded microgrids (MGs) such as poor harmonic load distribution and voltage distortion. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a control method to reduce main voltage harmonics selectively. This method uses a virtual synchronous generator (VSG) based control that adds the appropriate amount of harmonic voltage to the inverter voltage reference to compensate for the harmonic voltage generated at the output impedance due to the harmonic current. The harmonic VSG controller, which is developed after examining the basic principles of delivering power to a constant current source, significantly reduces total harmonic distortion (THD). To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed controller performance, it is compared with the conventional droop controller. Simulation results show the improvement of power quality in terms of voltage THD using VSG-based harmonic mitigation strategy.
